The intended pinnacle of my Everest is to create a socially responsible, progressive entertainment company that specializes in producing children’s television and animation of high artistic value. Mass entertainment is our most powerful source of education. Film and television are integral to the formation of individual and group identities and therefore greatly influence the shape and future of society. It is for this reason that directors and producers at all levels must consciously make responsible choices as they develop characters and plotlines. There are a number of accountable, beautifully made pieces of media, but too often the commercial structure of the industry allows for gross injustices under a guise of entertainment. I will graduate from Columbia University in May with a degree in Comparative Literature. I have spent the last few years developing an understanding of the true function of popular entertainment in society and a theory on socially responsible media. I also have a strong foundation in a spectrum of the arts, which will be instrumental in the production of the film. I am working to bring together an international group of brilliant, award winning stop- motion animators. We will spend two years working around the clock in a cooperative situation to produce a feature film. We have the dedication, the technical skill, the artistic vision, and the understanding of our roles as producers of media to create a feature film that has both broad appeal and merit. Income from this project will allow us to expand our operations and create a company founded upon the concept of Edutainment: that every piece of entertainment offers instruction whether social, aesthetic or intellectual. We will work in a deferred pay situation, but we need funding. We are dedicated champions of empowerment through media.
