My Everest is: To Make Inspirationa l Films
grassgazelle
Hi, my name’s Steven, and ever since I can remember, I’ve been making stuff. When I was a little kid I was really into drawing and building. As I got older my interests shifted more into playing music and composing. When I was in high school I grew particularly fond of writing and filming short videos with buddies, and scoring music for them. I think the most satisfying part of anything I do is watching people’s reactions to the finished product. Just knowing that I’ve made someone laugh, or that I’ve made someone’s day a little better, are the things that keep me excited about my work. My life ambition – or my personal Everest – is to keep doing what I’m doing, and to make a living out of it. Filmmaking especially is what I’d like to focus on, because it can combine any number of art forms into one unified piece: writing, photography, music, acting, drawing, building all play a part in it. And I think film can tell a story and convey a message faster and more powerfully than any other medium. I’ll continue expressing the ideas that have already come out in my work, like being happy, looking on the bright side, and pushing forward. I believe it’s important to always try and focus on what’s positive. It’s easy to find negativity in anything – I know I’m guilty of it all the time – but being pessimistic only leads to a poorer quality of life. We should always be confident in our ability to make things improve, whether on an individual level or on a global scale. In order for any problem to be solved, the first step is identifying the problem, and the next steps are focusing on what can be done to fix it. It obviously takes more than a single movie to solve a global issue, but my hope is that I can make films that inspire optimism and progress. Whether it’s a fictional narrative about a character who overcomes a personal challenge, or a documentary about a passionate group of crusaders pursuing social change.

where am i?

I'm about to graduate college, and it's coming to that point where... I need to get a job. My hope is that I can find something that gives me enough free time to continue making films independently.

how am i stuck?

I'm in a big transitional phase in my life right now. It's important to me that I don't lose sight of my dreams, and continue working towards them regardless of how difficult things may become.
